Nearly fifty bills are currently backlogged waiting for a hearing in Colorado’s house appropriations committee by the end of this week. Many of those bills have been in limbo for weeks, and most are expected to get defeated because of the huge budget deficit facing the state. Bente Birkeland reports from Denver.

Some state lawmakers are trying a new tactic in their efforts to block the Army’s plans to expand its 235,000- acre Pinon Canyon training site by introducing a bill that would bar the sale of state lands for the expansion.
